The Registered Nurse (RN) position is a sensitive position with the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County. This incumbent is responsible for assisting the physician and ARNP in providing primary care services, adherence, dispensing/administering medications, and tracking referrals at the Key West, Marathon, and Tavernier Health Departments sites. The incumbent is expected to provide high quality customer service and clinical excellence and can independently perform assigned duties while ensuring thorough and accurate documentation of charts and medical records. In addition, the incumbent will play a role in the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) program ensuring clinic HRSA Work Plan grant deliverables are met or exceeded. The incumbent will also work with Immunizations, Family Planning, and STD Programs.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



+ Provides direct nursing services, per protocols, to clients presenting for care in clinical areas including, but not limited to: interview, phlebotomy, vitals, history, specimen collection, etc.


+ Assists clinic providers with procedures


+ Educates and counsel clients on lifestyle, compliance, health practices, medications and follow-up when needed


+ Document medical records accurately and thoroughly using program guidelines


+ Reports abnormalities to appropriate professionals


+ Dispenses/administers medication as needed or directed


+ Communicates effectively as a Ryan White team member while collaborating with all health department programs


+ Follows guidance of the ARNP to organize and maintain exam rooms, request supplies, clean medical equipment, assist with referral management and follow-up


+ Participates in staff meetings and community outreach events


+ Completes required trainings and attends meetings as scheduled


+ Participates in Quality Improvement (QI) activities and staff meetings and, utilizing the concepts and practices of continuous quality improvement, follows QI plans and tools to include regular process and chart audits


+ Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to preparing reports, typing and data entry

+ Ability to understand, interpret & apply applicable rules, regulations, policies & procedures


+ Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments


+ Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision






REQUIREMENTS:


Licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27. Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation are required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of a disaster or as needed.


EMERGENCY DUTY:


Emergency dutyrequired of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat thereof, man-made or natural.
